I can't but help but think how silly this is.

The best response was the old separating state and religion, by having the state not recognize any religion and affirming the freedom to practice any or no religion (... as far as they comply with regular law, yada, yada, yada).

That's a religion? Wow. Now I see more and more how crazy religions can be. This just further confirms the absurdity of all religions. Especially when someone can make up a religion based on a movie.

Well, maybe there's some concession on their part that their religion is made up shit.
I certainly hope none of them believe they can levitate their impunded car out of the towing yard.

So could it be just a parody then? Could that be the point of the religion? I actually think that is the nature of scientology. I think it's a parody on religion.

Parodies dont go out of their way to sue and intimidate people and contribute to the deaths of several people.

As for the Jedi religion, i'm not quite sure what to make of it.

I know the Jedi code, but that's about as much as you can realisitically follow as apart of it.

That and the forms of combat.

I used to want to be a Jedi. But now I realise thats the deeper religion of StarWars is more like islam
So I might have to take to the cloth, and become a muslin

True. The general theme for Star Wars was the idea of a religious fight. We can argue about the philosophy of good Vs. evil, etc ..., but most wars are contributed to a degree of religious greed.

You should know that I put my religion down as Jedi when the census went around. It was as a laugh and an attempt to screw over the system which shouldn't really have any business prying into peoples lives like that.

Seriously though, star wars 'Force' makes a hell of a lot more sence than most of the other religions put together. If it can't be recognised as a religion then nothing should be.

I would also mention one thing in that although the force set in a fictional universe this doesn't mean that the religion can't be recognised. The bible & koran are also set in fictional universes where snakes can talk and donkeys can fly. Didn't stop them from becoming recognised though did it.
