This documentary looks fantastic. Check out the trailer.
Religulous: is a documentary directed by Larry Charles and starring American comedian Bill Maher, host of Real Time With Bill Maher on HBO. According to Maher, the title of the film is a portmanteau derived from the words "religion" and "ridiculous," implying the satirical nature of the documentary that is meant to mock the concept of religion and the problems it brings about.

It sucks that it got scrapped for release this past easter, then it got bumped to June, NOW OCTOBER, WHY WHY WHY DOES THE WORLD HAVE TO WAIT!
I don't like going to the theater because there is always some moron eating loudly, talking on their cell and kicking the back of your seat. But, this one will be worth the hassle. I only hope I dont have to travel a billion miles to see it. |

It was pushed back before because of the writer's strike. Is there any reason why it's being pushed back now? Recently he made some comments about the Pope that pissed off the usual histrionic Catholic suspects. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Personally while I like Bill Maher, always watch his show and will see this movie, his criticisms of religion are often too simplistic. I'm sure the movie will be entertaining, but I doubt it will add anything to the debate and probably won't be very successful. |

It already IS successful. The fact that it got made to that scale says a lot about how far the skeptic community has come. It may not be a blockbuster, but I also wouldn't be shocked if it does well too. Maher has a following and it certainly will appeal to the atheist community.
AND I am quite sure even if it lost money in the theater, it will make that up in DVD sales. |

I hope I'm proven wrong.
Couldn't be less successful than Expelled at least. |
