It looks like some folks are using my email address to spam hundreds of thousands of people. My mail server is inundated with return mail failures that are somehow getting past my mail filters.
Is there anyone here familiar with such tactics? What can I do to stop this? They are masking their emails with mine and spamming possibly millions of folks. |

It's rather easy to spoof email addresses, so short of changing your address: there's really nothing which can be done. Although I would check to make sure you're not infected with some worm or trojan. Download
Spybot: Search and Destroy
and see if there's anything. Also try Kaspersky's online virus scanner. |

Yeah.. my server host confirmed that no one has compromised the server, that indeed, someone was spoofing my email address and mail server address. They said there are a few things they can do to help.. but yeah.. not very much.
The traffic has slowed a lot, but there's nothing to really stop them from doing it again. Grrrr... I'll try to stay diligent using my spam filters.. in the meantime.. no wonder I'm considered some notorious spammer. |
