He misses the point in the most obvious way! The point is that the flying spaghetti monster is just as real as god. A humorous version of Russell's celestial teapot. |

True enough, but saying Darwinist dogma ever made claims about the universe coming into existence out of nothing is just pure ignorance. For one thing, the science of Darwin had little if nothing to do with cosmology, and second, I’ve never heard a cosmologist make the claim the universe came into existence out of nothing. These are words the ignorant “creationists” are putting into their mouths; they’re making presumptive claims which are completely unfounded. I guess it just shows how weak their arguments actually are. |

Wait- modern Darwinism says WHAT about the universe? As far as I know, Darwinism says a lot about evolution. Who knew Darwin was an astronomist? These creationists are lumping Darwinism together with the Big Bang theory.
I don't really believe that there was nothing before the big bang; there had to have been matter somewhere since the law of the conservation of matter states that matter can neither be created nor destroyed. So all matter was in a little dense, tiny ball. Then it exploded.
Some physicists have a theory about the destruction of the universe. It involves dark matter or something like that and is called the Big Rip. It's also something I don't give about creationist arguments.
I think that the universe may be creating and destroying itself every 55 billion years or so.
Just something I've been thinking about, but the FSM thing was hilarious. |

I wrote the author and his editor a snarky little request to keep things fact based, even in opinion columns- I can't wait for a reply. |

He definately abuses the so-called 'you too' fallacy. "Church of Darwin"? Sorry, but the only reason Darwin is still a theory is because of these wacky Creationists. |

I meant the only reason people speak so cautiously about it is because of wacky creationists. I guess the science community would still have to study the theory for it to become a principle. |

Christians simply DO NOT understand that the FSM is a
parody
of their religion. They see the absurdity of it, but they simply are not capable of connecting it to the equal absurdity of their own beliefs. |

I totally had an idea for that. Publish little booklets with various absurd religious stories in them, but change the names of the people and places around so that they aren't too familiar. Then try and sell them on it as your own phony religion. After they call horseshit then reveal the source as their own. Or if you're less mean, make it a game of, "what religion is this from?" and see how many they get right. |

They might recognize the events of their religious stories unless the stories were more obscure and if they weren't devout church goers. Maybe use the story from 2 Kings 2:23. That would be successful for this purpose. |

Sure details could be changed. Make the kids make fun of him for being fat. Have it be wild dogs instead of a bear. Jut keep the skeleton of the story the same. But I would totally change the ethnicity of the names. |
