As I've said before I won't buy an "American car" as long as these uni0ns hold the companies hostage. |
So, the entire domestic industry is just one big uni0n and that is why imports vastly out number exports in just about every sector in America? It isn't because they make cheap crap overseas? Those
EVIL
Uni0ns!!! Oh for the good old days of being in debt to the company store with no rights nor protections and working for slave wages........ |

SJC's post is so out in left field I can't even respond to it. It'd be like trying to have a phone conversation with a fax machine. |

What's this world coming to when you can't even exploit you employees. You use to even be able to use the entire family in your factories. So what if your child got maimed or killed, the parents can always have another one since they breed like rats. After all, they're only pathetic and weak. Those damn uni0ns sure ruined everything. Luckily they are always those "people" over in Asia that you can exploit without the fear of any uni0n getting in the way and if one does you can always move to a country with even lower standards of individual rights and freedoms....
The vast majority of imports from China, and many of the other countries in the area, is crap. Disposable. Many of your beliefs are still archaic to the point of being inhuman. But than again, you are what you are. And I can't wait until you get old and your daughters put you away in the cheapest rest home they can find because by then you'll be too pathetic and weak to be any use to them because of your fine example while they were growing up.... ::popcorn:: |

I've never had the luxury of buying a new car, so I stick to GM cars (namely, Buick).
Pretty low maintenance, even in the older ones, though I hear the Honda Civic is a hearty little number. |

Is it any wonder when all they had to do was buy American technology to get ahead. Though, Japan is starting to price itself out of the market.
Chrysler lands deal with Chinese carmaker
. With this deal they'll be able to flood the US market with even cheaper cars that will only meet minimal safety standards. I had heard that this deal also violates certain American laws against doing business with companies that do business with Iran. |

So it's bad to buy goods from abroad, apparently it's bad to sell them abroad as well.

Not really, Japanese firms have developed a reputation for quality and reliability, and thus American consumers are willing to pay a higher price.
Oh god, anything but cheap goods!!! ahhh!!! It would be so much better if mid-level cars cost $50000, nay, $100000!

And? If you want to drive around in a soda bottle on wheels, that's your business. It's your own body you're risking after all. Besides, none of the old-school Detroit cars fare well in crash tests, are you suggesting people (even those that can't afford it) be forced to buy a new car that meets some arbitrary safety standard? |

It is when you sell the farm as well. You're only suppose to sell what you're producing on the farm.

Not really, as seen by this new deal.

Hardly. But you really don't care about that.

Remember, "Unsafe at Any Speed"?
You fundies really are full of it. What you just said is no different than when a theist puts their lives in the hands of their god and say that if anything happens its "God's Will" and that they don't trust in Man's Laws. |

It's funny how you'll accuse me of being trapped in the past but any time uni0ns come up you can only defend them as useful in days long past.

This is untrue. Most of the products made today are imports from China and most of them are good. If you pay more you can get better quality stuff--this has always been so and is as it should be.

I could turn this kind of "thinking" around on you. You are being inhuman by not wanting to help people in disadvantaged countries!! You don't want them to have job opportunities. You want them trapped on pitiful farms unless they're lucky enough to be "useful" to the Chinese government.

When I'm that old I'll probably be rich by your standards. Also my wife is 12 years my junior and she'll be taking care of me.
Also, my daughters are quite fortunate to have a man like me as their father. I love them. I take care of them. I won't desert them and let the government pick up the slack. I earn enough money for their mom to stay home and provide the better care than day-care. I won't let the government monopolize on their education and provide such a poor one. They will be strong and have a high self-esteem. Their biggest problem will probably be in finding men worthy of being their husbands. |

The Corvair was mentioned in one of the episodes of "Free to Choose" by Milton Friedman. The government agency created to protect us from unsafe cars when it finally tested the Corvair found that it compared to other cars of its class favorably in safety.

I guess God does exist. He's your favorite straw man! |

Yeah, he's being exploited, and most likely abuse, your favor things. Also, when he's too old to perform he'll be put down, just like you. Anyways, for now you can keep performing until you become redundant. |
