Today for me I am going to watch football and have beer and eat some ribs. Unfortunatly I cant watch my Skins play(not that they are having a good season anyway) because I live in the Panther viewing area.

Tommorow I will exchange gifts with my mom. Yea, I do it for her because I love her. But she knows full well that I do not view that day the same way she does. I'll be online as usual posting in various forms as well.

I am going to call my other familly members as well and wish them a happy holiday. (DUH) as if I would be such a scrooge.

I simply think, at least in America the politically correct right think that they can force one meaning on that day when it is clear that many different and diverse people in general celibrate different holidays this time of year and even that particular day is not viewed the same way by all people.

In any case. I hope everyone has a happy day and gets to spend time with their family and friends doing what they enjoy.

HOWEVER, DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! YOU PUT YOUR LIFE AT RISK AND THOSE ON THE ROAD AS WELL!

DONT BE A LOSER BY BEING A DRIVING BOOZER!

Have a happy and safe holiday.

I'm going to be trying to pound the head ache of these christian holidays out of my self by endoctrinating xians in the blood of their brethren.

But seriously, I hate xmas with a passion, everything about it makes me head throbe. Especially those irritating close ups of christmas trees, usually of the ornaments with maybe a bunch of cookies and a glass of milk in front of it. The room is lit with either candles or a fire place. That hazey scene always has my head throbbing forever.

on dec 25th I will probably be doing nothing special or different, hopefully that is.

I can already tell I'll be dragged in to a pit of festive xians, screaming and clawing in celebration of their soon to be zombie jesus.

I can never express my hatred for the people this time of the year, why did they have to ruin my favorite season with this crap ):

You're right Tormentor, being miserable is so much better.

I will venture the 1 1/2 hours to my parents house for the traditional breakfast and gifts will be exchanged.

Although my parents would claim to be Christian, still, it was a very secular upbringing and at Christmas I cannot ever recall even hearing the words "baby Jesus". Christmas Day was always a pretty 'secular' affair with no religious connotations attached to the various Christmas emblems such as the tree, lights, etc. So, you know, the day is pretty cool in my book and is filled with some great memorys.

As long as hatred exists over things we cant control humanity will always loath itself.

You are merely another cog of ignorant hatered.

NOW,

Do not think I like mthology or the fact that people buy it as truth. BUT, I am pragmatic in knowing as long as I am one person amoungst 6 billion there will always be theists. Vent about them all you wish, believe me it is understandable. But dont come across as if genocide will ever be a viable solution or as if any compassionate being would want that.

"Hate" the claim. "Hate" the influance religion has on politics. But dont hate an individual simply because they believe.

Amen...pardon the pun...

I will be exchanging a gift or two with family and eating a hearty lunch (and probably leftovers again at dinner! woot!) It's been commercialized to the end and back so there's really no way to ignore that...just try not to let myself get caught up in it.

What's wrong with "getting caught up" in christmas? Is everyone really so pissed off at christianity that they'll condemn themselves to misery just to "show them"? Sounds like the kind of good fulfilling life that everyone should aspire to.

I'm certainly not pissed off, I love this time of year. Dawkins uses the phrase "cultural Christain" which I think describes many people of different and no faith brought up in a society where Christianity is/has been dominant.
Recent polls in my country have shown that by far most people are not religious, but they do see this time of year as important; a reflective, caring, thoughtful time off from the normal hustle and bustle. Lots of people I know do charity work at this time of year, not one of them is religious.

I'm sitting here next to a Christmas tree, an open log fire, an empty plate where a turkey roast once was, a glass of wine in my hand some old black and white film on the TV and I'm having a quiet and peaceful time.

I celebrate Christmas. yesterday I went with a friend to his cousins house and we had enchiladas. I was going to my moms, but she and that side of the family love watching football, and I hate footfall (sports in general) with a passion, sports bores me to tears, so I opted to just come in a few weeks after the football season ends. Laughing

I went to my sisters and met dad there the day before christmas and we exchanged gifts. I am one who believes we should not throw away the baby with the bath-water. I threw out belief in christian theology, but why abandon harmless traditions? I personally like many of our traditions and have no plans to abandon them.

Enjoy your secular humanism while I cover myself in the honey of truth that is cosmicism.
