Metaphysics:- http://www.rep.routledge.com/article/N095
That massive question with a hundred answers!
(skip this paragraph, it has only indirect reasoning on the question)
One of my recent subjects for challenge is "string theory" , I believe the answer must lie with both bosonic and fermion particles to have success. Funding has stopped any progress for what is thought to last around ten years. (This is the time expected for theorists to reach a conclusion.) So, we have a theory of everything based on quarks!
That being the "matter" question answered , my slant on this subject is to ask , is the "mind" or conscience, merely a resonance of synapses or does it have "its own " entity, as in the belief that God controls the mind or conscience by implanting thoughts or reasons for our body`s voluntary reaction. This is a difficult question to answer as there almost no impartial studies on the subject. All of the study that I have seen lends itself to either politics, religion or pure science.
So, what do you think :-} , or do you? (think that is) Would knowing what our mind/conscience is, be the answer to Why are we here? |

So why are we here? The only thing we have to go on are the physical senses, and maybe some higher sense, which may be a fabrication of the mind. To discover, experience, know, invent, create, love, hate. Is there a mission to fullfill here? Or does it matter? Arggghhhh!!!! |

What do you mean, "why are WE here"? do you think there is a common purpose to life? Or should we fit someone/something else's purpose? Please explain. |

I think we do have a common purpose to life. Not everybody recognizes it but it is as strong of a drive as the sex drive IMO and that is the desire to have happiness.
While each of us may have different ideas of what makes us happy, the desire to be happy is constantly with us and moves us until we can achieve the happiness.
It is prevalent in all lifestyles and religious beliefs from Atheists to any religion you name.
It is instinctual at birth and we fuss until all conditions are right that make us happy as new beings. |

Why are here because of a group of randomly assembled components they grew and combined into bigger randomly assembled components. Nohting fancy, just science |

Okey, back to my original question. I split the question into , asking, What/who controlls the mind? Is it just a resonance of synapses or maybe God, plants the thoughts into you head. How does our "mind/conscience" play a part in "why are we here"? |

We are here to pass on our DNA. That IS the meaning of LIFE in general.
What we as intelligent beings decide to do along the way is up to us. |

The mind has nothing to do with why we are here. We are here because our ancestors were successful at passing along their DNA. If a mind were necessary there would be no plants etc.
The only thing a mind may have to play in why we are here is the sexual preference of our ancestors. |

Quite a broad sweeping answer bad dog. Of course there would be plants. Not every question is based on the atheist/scientist/religous concept or theme. There is a train of thought that suggests aliens gave us the technology we use today. Suggesting that in the past 100 years we have progressed inordinately quickly with the passage of time. That scientists were somehow shown new technology. |
