There is such overwhelming evidence FOR evolution and none for creation.
Endogenous Retrovirus Insertions.
Atavisms and vestigeal organs.
Broken vitamin C gene.
The fossil record.
DNA. Junk DNA.
Observation of speciation in nature and the lab.
The fact that ALL life has a common ancestor and there are Z E R O special creations. A Mermaid or a Pegasus would be a serious wrench in the modern theory.
Rejecting evolution is like rejecting the fact that the Earth goes around the sun, because we see the sun go up and down. |

This website
is one of my favorites for explaining evolution in simple terms, showing how it relates to everyday observations.
One of the best arguments for evolution is the simple fact that it is readily observed whenever cold and flu viruses mutate, thus forcing your body to develop new antibodies. An understanding of evolution is what helps scientists to develop new vaccines and other treatments for various diseases that are caused by viruses and bacteria. Creationism provides no such uses at all. |

You're welcome! I post it often when Christians start making ridiculous claims about evolution, but I doubt that very many of them bother to look at it. It is easier to believe lies than to seek out the truth. |

You want me to pick one example that's my favourite? How can I possibly play favourites like that? :p
Well, if I had to, that broken vitamin C gene (broken in the exact same way in both humans and chimpanzees) is a nice place to start. |

Talk Origins, Panda's Thumb, No Answers in Genesis, NCSE (I think they have a free ebook)... all easy to Google
Of course there's RD's new book, 'The Greatest Show on Earth' (on my reading pile)...
You should also go to Wikipedia; 'The Modern Synthesis' to get how it's so much more than fossils!
My favourites; geographical distribution of species wrt continental drift. And the evolution of whales. And the links between Theropod dinosaurs & birds

Seconded. I've read that book and I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in the subject. It really does a good job of explaining evolution. Although Dawkins does admittedly bash creationists a bit in there too, I think it's justified. After all, the purpose of the book is to make the case for evolution and show why the deniers are just plain wrong. Really, there's not much else you can do with creationism besides ridiculing it. |
