My sentiments exactly. I really hate US election days. It's probably the uncertainty that I don't like. Although in this case, I imagine it was largely my own fault, since I didn't allow myself to get too hopeful that Obama would pull it off (my reason being that I got hopeful about 2004 and was gravely disappointed, not to mention horrified), but, really, in the last couple of weeks it became pretty clear that Obama would win.
It's hard to describe how pleased I am with this result--not only the presidential race, but the congressional one as well. One way of putting it might be that I feel like we're finally coming out of a dark age. This'll certainly be the first time in my life that the USA has had a particularly liberal government, and I wish them the very best of luck in the next four years. |

I'm almost giddy waiting for the world's reaction. |

The only positive thing that would have happened if she won was ....
People would stop making fun of Dan Quayle |

Yep. In North Carolina, the democrats swept pretty much every office. |

Impressive. I hope this a good sign that America is going to join the rest of the civilized world in the 21st century now. One of the first things that needs to be done is overturning all the flippin' gay marriage bans. -.- |

As well as the bans on scientific studies that conflict with religious beliefs. We can't afford to fall behind the rest of the world scientifically any more |

I would call that a top priority, definitely. |
