Well, I play WoW. Thats no secret. While browsing their forums, I came across this thread.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8557300349&sid=1&pageNo=1

and then this thread that someone posted about the first, where the creator on the first one posted in as well.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8557020822&postId=85561725862&sid=1#12

In case its deleted before people see it, I'll copy and paste the initial post of the first thread.

The creator of the initial thread is a human mage on the Turalyon realm named Watertarg.

Quote:
First I'd like to say that this will probably be a pretty personal topic to some people, so please lets keep all responses in this thread rational and respectful. I'm not going to attack anyone, only present my beliefs and why I believe them, if you would like to do the same then I completely encourage that but let's respect each other's opinions in this thread please.

That being said, Creation vs. Evolution is a very interesting debate. What I don't think many people realize is that they are in direct conflict with each other. If you believe in both Creation and Evolution, it's like trying to ride 2 horses going opposite directions at the same time, it just doesn't work. There are two facts to this issue I would like to present.

1. Nothing from The Bible, not one phrase (and it's a pretty big book) has ever been proven wrong. Athiest scientists have for years been trying to find anything out of the bible that they can prove wrong and it has been completely unsuccessful.

2. Nothing from Evolution theory, not one phrase of it (and it's a pretty big theory) has ever been proven right. Ever. The Evolution theory was created and exists today on people's imaginations and unproven theories. Not one piece of factual evidence for Evolution has been discovered as of yet.

The reason that Evolution theory is so popular is because it is commonly taught in schools, especially elementary schools where kids believe everything they hear. I remember being a kid and hearing about dinosaurs that were millions of years old, on an earth that was billions of years old. I'm sure you've heard that too. The simple fact is that there is no evidence in existence that shows the earth is any more then 6000 years old. There is quite a bit of evidence that shows the earth is in fact around 6000 years old, like the Bible says, and that a flood consumed the whole earth and destroyed everything around 4400 years ago. This isn't just blind faith, this is evidence. I can go into this evidence later if needed.

So why do they teach Evolution? That's a good question. Somehow I always believed in evolution and at least the age of the earth being so far off, yet I always believed in God too. There's a problem because you can't believe in both, they contradict. So obviously Evolution is effective in getting people away from God. Argue all day if there is a God or not, but the fact is that IF a God exists and this world was created, then Evolutionists draw people away from that. The reason they do that is because some people cannot accept that there is a creator out there and that the creator makes all the rules of the universe. Some people want to believe they can create things and make rules in the universe. They want to put humans at the highest power (the most advanced phase of evolution) and not recognize an intelligent designer. The evolution theory is basically their way of being able to reject God.

Evolution theory, like I said earlier, has never been proven right in any way. Not one aspect of it. The only reason it is in school's still today and still believed is only because there hasn't been a back up theory to fall on. Evolution is all these people have and they are not willing to resort to the other option, which is to believe the Bible. It is probably too late for them, they have built so many walls around themselves to keep God out that I don't think it can be broken out of. It isn't too late for you though. Get saved, and if you are saved, do something for God. Win souls for his Kingdom, spread information about God, show the disinformation that Evolution is giving to us and our helpless youth.

If you would like to ask any questions or debate any points with me, please do so. I am not the most knowledgable person here by any means, but I will answer your questions to the best of my ability, and if I can't, I can at least refer you to someone who can. If you don't want to respond publicly but you want to talk to me privately about these issues, feel free to contact me at: K_leichtman@yahoo.com

Love,
Targ

Oh boy, that's epic.
True believers of that caliber are getting rare, or at least that's what I thought.

Honestly, I can kind of see the appeal of young earth creationism for a christian, but it's just so... wrong...

Creationists are so damn naive when they only attack evolution (most of the time). If they were consistent, they'd have to attack practically every other field of science, as well, even the scientific method itself.
You can't just say that all scientists who use radiometric dating are incompetent or lying, but then suddenly claim that meaningless hypothesis' like irreducable complexity are "scientific proof" for creationism.
Jeez, why do they never even bother looking at the dozens of other dating methods aside from radiocarbon...

And I wonder what a creationist would think while looking through a telescope at a star that is millions of light years away. Oh, so Einstein, too, must have been wrong about the speed of light...

Are you kidding? He just kept making outrageous claims with nothing to back them.

He said something along the lines that carbon dating was inaccurate because a freshly dead snail was thought to be 17,000 years old or something.

He also claimed that determining the age of something found in the earth based on what layer of the earth it was found was circular reasoning.

Naked assertions are the typical method by which these people communicate their ideas.

As with any scientific method, errors happen. It's my understanding that carbon dating is very accurate to around 60k years.

At any rate, this is the typical method they use to attack with; find some absurd error and run with it. What they fail to note is all the highly successful tests that haven't been found to have errors.

There are always anomalies. That is why scientists test and retest and retest again. Then other scientists test and retest. We have already found proof of civilizations that exceed 6,000. He also completely ignores the serious evidence that comes from geology whereas he cannot possibly come up with any serious evidence to back up HIS claim that all the geologic evidence was created by the great flood.

Idiots.

What amazes me is that there is so much off-topic discussions on gaming sites. A friend players Traveller. He tells me that everything is up for discussion on the boards.

yea and sadly gaming boards from my experience don't have moderators that know how to moderate fairly. As a result they pick and choose the side they want to be on or rush to the defense of the one that's been on the board with the most posts (as if that was an indicator of their intellect).

Prefer DragonQuest myself, a frp from the 70/80s. A high tech frp just never worked for me. Give me a spell book and I am happy.
