The control of the elections is currantly in the hands of corporate media and Democratic and Republican Party leaders.
The amount of participation by the public is limited. They often give a token amount of control over the debate to a small amount of people but there is no way of knowing how many people are being shut out partially or completely.
The majority of the public is not involved in deciding when and where debates happen or what questions are asked.
The people who do control the debate don’t even seem to be trying to do a good job.
What is the best way to put control of the interview process into the publics hands?
What ballot question would you ask?
What questions would you ask the candidates?
How would you improve this system?
What kind of a system do you think we should have in twenty years?
I have written about these questions and more in the following web site but in order for it to be more democratic it would be better if I got contributions from others.

I think this is something that the public has to demand. Everyone has to be tired of the bullshit that we get in every election, the petty questions of patriotism and the stupid pandering, and pretty much everything that distracts us from the real issues. The public has to have a real interest in the real matters and the media will provide it to them. It would have to; it only shows the things the public is interested in. Somehow, political parties must be done away with. Again, this is something only the people can do. |

The Corporate media is under no obligation to do the job that it claims it is doing.
That is part of the problem.
In order to have election reform we will also need to have reform of the press. I don't mean by censoring it I mean ending the censorship that is alreay happening. The corporations controling the media have veto power over the media and the power to flood the media market with trash. that is a common form of censorship if the good stories are buried in with tons of garbage most people miss them and wind up watching the trash.
We need more diverse media with more direct influence from the public. And we need a better education system so the public will know how to keep the media acountable as well as the government. |

It would be nice if some people who actually cared about real news started their own news service with the interest of providing an alternative to the current garage. |

Some have tried but they don't have the capital to do it right. The closest thing that I know of is Blogs and forums like this |
