Hi I am a skeptic and like to think of myself as a freethinker. I am also a Baha'i.
Would it be possible to get on the show and discuss about the Baha'i teachings and atheism, agnosticism, deism, theism, science and religion?
How can I contact the InfidelGuy to ask him to be on his show? I do not think that so far a Baha'i has been on his show and would be interested to know if he would be interested in having one.
Thanks and best regards,
Enrico |

you might be able to contact him in the chat room... Bahai's aren't supposed to be prostheletizing though, in my understanding... could you speak about it without doing that? |

Hi Skydiver34!
Thanks for the suggestion to contact the InfidelGuy in the chat room.
Baha'is distinguish between teaching and proselytism. The first activity consist in informing the people about the lifes and teachings of the Bab and Baha'u'llah. Proselytism is considered as the application of any form of pressure to join a religion, be it financial or psychological or physical.
A principle of the Baha'i Faith is the independent investigation of truth.

I used to be a Baha'i. This isn't entirely true. |

1. Answer to Cygnus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahai and http://www.bahai.org
2. Answer to Infidelguy "I used to be a Baha'i. This isn't entirely true."
I have never bothered about the definition of proselytism. My understanding is that it does not match with the common meaning. So be it. It is not a term used in the Writings anyway as far as I can tell.
Anyway, my interest is skepticism and religion. History of religions and science.
I am fairly well read in Biblical studies. I am a mythicist myself. The origin of the Bible and Christianity is my focus. Dr. Robert Price is my hero.
Since, from what I have been able understand from the podcasts, Baha'i is sometimes mentioned (I think by Bob Price), but is never the subject of a topic, I am wondering if a program on Baha'i and maybe other "New Religious Movements" could be made.
Thanks,
Enrico |

During my religious journey I'd been a bahai ( amoung many other paths.) and they're not bad as religious folks go but the thing that bothered me was the membership cards you got when you signed up.
New World Order Indeed. |

Dear Believeinmyselfnotgod:
Thanks for the "not bad" comment The usually get much worse from Muslims and Christians.
The membership cards are just an administrative tools. Gyms give them out too. Ever had a high school or college ID? Was that a problem?
There are Baha'i national communities where IDs are not used. For example, if I remember correctly, the UK.
Anyway, if that is the only issue with Baha'i, then I could not ask for a better criticism |
