HI I am a former member of the cult know as the international church of christ. have been out for a three ears now and I no longer believe in god I had a lot a doubts about of bible for many years and I started to research and I was shocked so I stopped going to church and start to learn more about the true history of the bible and religion. I am wondering if any one else if from the church on this forum it would be nice to talk to someone who has been through it too |

I wasn't a member of that particular church, but I did used to be a Christian. Like you, I started studying the issues and realized that the Bible is full of errors, contradictions, and silly, impossible stories. Also, just comparing Christianity to other religions shows that it is not unique, it borrowed many elements from many other belief systems that existed in the 1st Century A.D. Glad you could join us here. If you stick around, you will learn lots of valuable information! |

Welcome fms.
I'm also a former christian but also wasn't involved in that particular church.
if you ask me, every christian church is a cult of some kind. Its just that some are more pernicious than others. I'm guessing yours was one of the particularly nasty ones.
I'm glad you made your way out of there. The longer I'm a nonbeliever the CRAZIER all of their beliefs become. I've gotten to the point where its all just nonsense to me. I actually like learning about the bible, but not from people who believe its true. |

Is this ICOC the infamous Boston one, that professes that only its members are the truly saved Christians?
I'm sorry you had to go through that. Welcome. |

Belief in god(s) is as silly as crossing your fingers when your home team is about to kick the last second( hit or miss)field goal in the Super Bowl.
Rabbits feet, lucky socks, magic underwear, four leaf clovers.....That is religion in a nutshell. If you are willing to pray to invisible friends in the sky, then you should have no problem consulting terrot cards, or magic mirrors on the wall.
Welcome BTW
Glad to see you escaped the chains of superstition. |

Is that anything to do with the non international CoC? Both my wife were from CoC. She left because they were
very
fundamentalist. eg: women weren't allowed to talk in church. My former best friend and I parted ways a while ago but that church twisted him in on himself so badly that it was a very unhealthy cycle of self hate. I heard that the CoC church split in the 70's and that half of it became a cult. Is this possibly the ICoC?.... "ICoC where everybody goes to get their flapjack flipped" |

Did the ICoC use to have commercials? I remember seeing a commercial a while back for a church that had a name that I remember being similar to the ICoC. Maybe it was the ICoC. |

The commercial was of a rather large bouncer standing in front of a catholic looking church and refusing to let certain people in. |
