Hi everyone. I haven't completely introduced myself to the boards, so I'll take this opportunity to do that now while at the same time attempting to spread an idea which I hope everyone will join me in passing on to others.
Next year is going to be the 200th year of Charles Darwin's birth and 150th year since the publication of On the Origin of Species. I think it would be a remarkable step ahead for reason, and science if we could all celebrate Darwin's birthday, so I'm on a mission. During the holidays Google has become known for it's logo change. During Christmas you have Santa Claus riding the reindeers, Thanksgiving marks the feastivities, and today it was a celebration of Science. I think if all of us could get together and notify and ask Google to make a logo for Darwin Day on Feburary 12th this could be a stepping stone for science.
If everyone is with me then please send an email to Google now rather than later about designing a logo to mark Darwin Day celebration. I would assume it could get a wider recognition that way.
What does everyone think?
As for myself. I've been an atheist for years last I remember I was 12 or 13 when I realized the notion of religion was more of an idea and a product of our minds than anything external or supernatural. I come from a muslim background too, so I'm quite proud of my parents for living a secular life than a religious one.
The guy who works on Google Logo is Dennis Hwang. I'm sure if many of us can recommend the idea maybe Dennis will consider it. http://www.logoogle.com/dennishwang.htm
