Courtesy Reason:

Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax has died at age 69.
Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said.

"It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," [widow Gail] Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."

Never played D&D, because my ultra-christian father wouldn't allow it, but I did play my share of pen and paper roleplaying games back in the day. GG will be missed.

If reading through Deities and Demigods doesn't turn you off to religion, nothing will. It's the gamer's version of Th Power of Myth.

I still with they'd listed Jesus.

I only found out about this through a member of my RPG group...I didn't even know who the man was because I never liked D&D and only endure the whole fight monsters and steal treasure style of "role playing" due to the other members of my group.

But given what he started and how RPG's evolved I respect what this guy did and wish I'd have met him.
