Creationists sure are intellectually dishonest. Any comments about this article?

Creating a Martyr: The Sternberg Saga Continues
By Ed Brayton

In this essay the real story of Richard von Sternberg's alleged persecution by Smithsonian scientists is revealed, showing that all accusations of "persecution" have been either dramatically exaggerated or simply invented by ID advocates. The ill-conceived but stubbornly pursued story of Sternberg's fake martyrdom is just another testimony to the underhanded manner Discovery Institute's pseudo-scientists utilize in their fight against decent science.

I have been reading about this.

The big question that will clear up a lot of the muddiness is if they would release the names of the peers that reviewed the Meyer paper.

The suspicion is that it was ID friendly scientists that were not known to be at the time (hence the director allowing the peer review to be accpeted). Usually a paper is opened up to the larger community, but this one seems to have been anonymously distributed to a select few.

I doubt we will find out more about this.

However, it is known now that the paper (Meyers) is usless trash.

Jesus freaks stretching the truth... Now that's a new idea...

Honestly, why don't they bask in the persecution. It makes them more akin to the jebus. Honestly, what an intellectually bankrupt movement. Still, I do intend to read the ID textbook "Of Pandas and People". As a biology student in college I'm sure I'd find it funny...

oh, I think they ARE basking! They are riding this like a horse of the apocolypse! They have turned one paper that slipped through into a whole conspiracy against them.

Psuedosicence. One of its defining characteristics is the manufacter of a conspiracy.

BTW, please read it, and maybe familarize yourself with Dembski and Behe - but not at the expense of real learning. I have found that they have a seductive argument, but I am not a biologist. I am sure a biologist will see the problem right away. For one, I DO see the problem of ERV's - it's insurmountable by the ID'iot's.

I have a sneaking suspicion that basing your religion around a martyr has the effect of generally turning it's follows into overeager martyrs. Can't prove it....it's just a suspicion of mine Wink Always funny to hear about how Christians are persecuted in this country......

I haven't follow this Sternberg thing at all, could someone summarize? One of them finally got a paper in peer review? Good for them. Last time I was around here that was their holy grail.....

Didn't the AiG folks make up their own journal so they could claim to be peer-reviewed?

Even then it was a "stick close to your editor so we can make sure your findings reflect the success of ID" thing.
