Chello and greetings B_R
I've noticed you like to post threads scattergun style and ran foul of Reggie briefly... what you need to realise is that regular tragics on this board (not me of course ) get to see some of the sick, deluded and sociopathic (think fag, women etc. hating hard core Leviticus freaks) and people who believe that they are the doormen to HELL and are only too happy to send you there!! [right back at'cha guys -> and my idea of hell is inside the mind of one of these people... here, Earth, Terra Firma, seen through the neural maps of a distorted world-view, one that ascribes natural disasters to divine wrath and not fault lines... ]
But I digress... where I'm going with this is
LOOK AROUND DUDE!
Check the easy-to-miss 'Popular Articles' links below the adverts on the LHS... I recommend '10 Atheistic Arguments'
http://www.infidelguy.com/article11.html
And go back over the threads!! (especially the evolution section IMO) > esp. the 29 evidences for macroevolution. Let's not reinvent the wheel.
I'm answering this in the manner to which I'd like to think that you've posted it... hopefully you (or others reading this) are genuinely seeking information.
As to 'favourite' arguments, I'd say the
'ARGUMENT FROM ABSURDITY'
(i.e. that the universe fundamentally makes no sense) is by far and away the best. We are evolved to have brains that are designed for navigating through trees, hunting and operating in groups. The U as a whole need not conform to this and seems to roll on oblivious to our presence. Therefore it is up to us to recognise our mutual humanity and interconnectedness with our planet, and just get along a bit better!!
Question to all - - >
Maybe a reading list is in order??
Problem is there's so much out there now!!
Now, I have a co-evolved domesticated organism (feline) to feed and she don't take kindly to delay... |

I'm firmly convinced the antithesis of atheism needs evidence and not the other way round. In other words, I would not be an atheist if there was convincing evidence (on a personal level) for theism. |

An answer - - > I think that this is a great idea. It might be good to set it up as:
• book title and author's name,
• two-sentence review/description, and
• link to online bookseller for sale.
This could be helpful to any of the regular contributors here. It would certainly be helpful to "new arrivals" and any other person seeking said info.
The question that this produces is: should we simply set up a new thread or should have a more organized page elsewhere on this site? My opinion: organization would be helpful, but it is more work for the admins. Perhaps we could discuss how to share in this bit of extra work. |

Thanks D_A, re. a link to an online bookseller, I think that the IG website, whose bandwidth we all consume, should at least get the few pennies that such a link would provide... OKdokie, fellow forum-dwellers?
[EDIT]; man I could see how this could get out of control!! |
