Part of Penn And Teller On The Subject:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqlF2rvcYIs&NR=1

I'm going to be doing a podcast on this eventually. What do you guys think?

I think, Religion Gone COMPLETELY MAD! Love you hear your feedback either via post here or audio mp3 files to be read/played on the show.

This is a BS Organization and I feel the need to talk out against this organization!

These guys make wild, crazy ass claims on a monthly basis. Just recently PETA was arguing that Groundhogs are mistreated and suffer negatively during Groundhog Day and that we should use animatronic ones instead. I'm like.. how about dumping the whole stupid tradition period. But I digress. Can they at least prove these negative effects first before making claims on behalf of all non-human animals? Jeez.

PeTA is a piece-of-shit organization that makes animal rights look horribly awful. Even as a vegan, I find that there are essentially NO points on which I agree with them. Their approach is laughable, their philosophy is lacking, and their ability to convince the population that they're right is roughly non-existent. To equate their approach to animals with the question of human slavery, they'd be arguing for rope rather than leather whips, cotton rather than straw beds, and an allotment of at least one good pair of shoes per year. If animal use and abuses are wrong, come out and say it or shut the fuck up. They miss the point altogether and condemn others while doing it.

Great responses guys! Looks like we are all on the same page when it comes to this topic. Going to probably have to do at least 2 podcasts on this subject with all of the feedback that I have gotten to this point. Thanks again guys Smile

Okay guys, I have the first podcast about P.E.T.A. posted. I'm going to save your feedback comments here until the next show and am still taking feedback on this subject:

I am recording the podcast with these responses from this forum response. If you want to leave audio feedback, you can do that here as well:

Sorry about the late reply! If you need additional material I came across this story in 'The Brain that Changes Itself' by Norman Doidge. It concerns a neuroscience researcher Dr. Edward Taub.

You can see a very brief summary here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Taub

And a lot more detail here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Spring_monkeys

He nearly had his career destroyed and neuroscience was set back years. Stroke victims and others now benefit from his work every day. I 'blame' Peter Singer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Singer

WiKi wrote:
Outside academic circles, Singer is best known for his book Animal Liberation, widely regarded as the touchstone of the animal liberation movement. Not all members of the animal liberation movement share this view, and Singer himself has said the media overstates his status.[citation needed] His views on that and other issues in bioethics have attracted attention and a degree of controversy.

If this guy is serving as a role model, no wonder. He's smart, savvy and knows how to use his profile. Others are obviously not anywhere near as adept.

iPondR:

Thanks for your response! That is definately some interesting information to take a look at and since I always keep topics open (And I still have alot on the PETA Topic), this is useful and will be useful on future shows about this!

Thanks again and I truly appreciate it Smile

In fact, the show with the previous responses to this topic is now posted to The Podcast Feed. The link is here:
