Reggie, is there a link you can put on your front page for donations to the victims of Haiti?

Okay, I just did. Money will be sent in the name of Reginald Finley's Facebook Friends, The Infidel Guy, Atheist Forums, and The Atheist Network and possibly others Let's discuss the best charity to send our money to. Ideas?

I like Doctors without Borders but I’m sure I’ll be happy with whoever you decide on. Their webpage says they operate independently of any political, military, or religious agendas.

Second that!! ... my small donation made via the front page.
Non-believers care [full stop] - this life is one off and precious.

PZ Myers, in his post about this has two organization listed: The Red Cross and some group I've never heard of before: Partners in Health .

Rachel Maddow has a list of organizations as well.

My suggestion is the CFI's Skeptics and Humanist Aid and Relief Effort.

Unless the Red Cross has made major strides in the last twenty years, the only positive thing about the organization is the great volunteers. I like the Doctors without Borders mission statement. The problem I have with SHARE is that it is another 3rd party like Infidel Guy. We don't want our donations bouncing around before they go to an organization that is on the ground in Haiti.

My quick vote is Doctors without Borders.

Hey, Reggie. Haven't talked to you in a while. On Wednesday, I made my donation through the International Red Cross. My reasoning was that they already had a ground presence in Haiti, the American Red Cross is working with and funding through donations the Haitian Red Cross, so the ground presence is enormous. Besides that, their commitment to the work that needs to be done immediately and their commitment to long-term work is equal. They understand that, long term, wells need to be dug, shelter has to be provided and that people poop regardless of plumbing or not.

That's just my $0.02 anyway.

I'd also like to urge anybody that hasn't given towards the aid of the people of Haiti yet to please give. Just give. These people really need help.

I'll just leave it at that.

I'll go with whatever you decide Reg, but I find Doctors without Borders and the Red Cross good choices.

Well.. Paypal has just informed me that I cannot collect funds on a non-profits behalf without their permission. I have to therefore refund everyone their money. We collected $250 dollars.

Well we tried guys. Paypal has blocked my account until I refund the funds.

And we need access soon because my rent is due. I cannot have my pregnant wife and I on the street because of PayPals stupidity.

Reggie, if that's the case... I'm donating that small amount back to the IG website directly since I have already donated elsewhere... keep up the good work and all the best for the new arrivals to the IG clan!! Smile

If others have donated elsewhere, perhaps they could do the same!! I'm sure you'll go through 250 bucks worth of diapers in the first few weeks!

Regards, PTP a.k.a. iPondR
