hey guys my names Brandon and i just made an account on this cool site. Im 18 years old and am a "born again" atheist if you want to call it that. I used to be catholic but i was never a religious catholic. I stopped going to church when i was 13, and never prayed because i didn't totally buy it. I went to catholic highschool and breezed through the mandatory religion courses without putting any effort into it. Its a joke those courses. Its funny how nobody ever questions what the teacher says about god. They are just brainwashed and take it as fact. Its hilarious to me. Anyway I became atheist officially about a couple of months ago when i encountered some atheist videos on youtube. It all started with watching some george carlin standup videos in which he makes fun of religion and i realized how stupid it is. Since then ive watched loads of debates, and other videos that refute religious belief, and also read some great atheist books like the god delusion and the end of faith. Just using simple logic you can realize how ridiculous belief in a supernatural god is and im glad ive come to that conclusion. Anyway hope to see you guys in the chatroom to talk up some interesting stuff. Cheers.

Welcome and good to have you, checkitb4uwreckit.

I envy you because you are so very young compared to when I became a confirmed atheist. You have a whole life ahead of you to learn so much more and educate others. I owe my deconversion to IG, and for that he is one of my greatest heroes. I hope one day someone can say the same about me Smile.

Welcome to the freethinking side of town.

Welcome aboard Brandon. I'm so glad to hear you tasted of the tree knowledge early in life before you started making life decisions based on that belief system. I was on track to enter the "full time ministry" when my constant theology study led me to finally see all the holes in it and huge sections ministers intentionally leave out from their readings and sermons in church. As a result I had to re-start my life, not an easy thing to do when in your 30's. Online and accelerated colleges are nice for those in my age and situation but hands-down the best way to do it is still at your age before responsibilities of life pile up.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I'm glad that I became a free thinker this early because once you are brainwashed it is hard to break free without some permanent damage. Im lucky that it is easy for me to "see the light" i guess i was blessed with a good mind but not by god thats for sure. It is natural. Anyway hope to see you guys around and talk up some interesting stuff in the forums and the chatroom. Cheers.

Hi there, Brandon! I didn't drop Christianity until I was in my early 30s, so you're lucky.

If you were overweight then giving up the Catholic faith would be bad for your health. Any doctor will tell you that exorcise is good for your health, STAND SIT NEAL, STAND SIT NEAL, STAND SIT NEAL......I was once a Catholic myself and never understood all that posing. I guess somehow to the believer saying certain things on your knees magically makes God happy.
