The comments are hilarious.

For the record.. I do think this is horrible. Nature can provide some gruesome horrors. If a god exists, he got some explaining to do.

Yeah... great fodder for the argument from evil. But then Xians would have you believe that this is because of the Fall, and that God is just waiting on the other side with a cure, and a hug. Too bad he won't cure anyone that's alive...

Yes, because we all know that these infants, in monstrous pain btw, are being taught some lesson right before they die. We just don't know what that is. What exactly do Infants do in heaven? What's their heavenly reward? A huge nipple?

Oh wait.. they didn't get a chance to give their lives to Jesus, they go to Hell. If they go to Heaven, what does a spirit with an Infant mentality do?

lol.. man you are just wrong.

God is the biggest abortionist. Why didn't God abort this poor little fellow before it got this bad? God likes to torture innocent babies and unsuspecting parents I guess. Rolling Eyes

Come on Reggie we all know the standard theist cop out, "God has his reasons".

Yea, and what exactly did this unfortunate baby do for God to say, "Sorry kiddo, I need you for a prop to scare the crap out of society into believing in me".

I do not enjoy this particular topic but I don't think it is healthy to pick and choose which arguments we want to deal with. I will also admit when it comes to this area I do not have or will ever hope to have all the answers.

The argument from evil is a false premise. The reason it is a false premise is because we have an improper or loose concept of the term "good". "good" can be the antithesis of evil.

however, when the argument is made the term "good" is used in the sense of that which is pleasant.

The proper place in beginning this argument is answer the question Why does allowing suffering make God unjust?

Umm.. I don't understand your problem. We pick and choose all of the time.. I can't post thousands of arguments in one posting.

I personally wasn't even using the argument from evil. I WAS confronting suffering if a good God exists.

Good isn't the anti-thesis of evil if you believe in Yahweh. Christian theism skews what "goodness" is by allowing a free pass if God mirrors anything that humans view as an evil act. Such as drowning millions of sentient beings. The inability to narrow down "good" is the fault of Christian theism.

Also, God doesn't just allow it.. he creates the circumstances behind these horrors. He orchestrates them. Why bother making people in the first place. He must somehow enjoy the suffering of babies.. such as above.

Again, God gotz some explaining to do.

Are you going to try and step up to the plate for God? He doesn't seem to be available at the moment.

No I don't mean that. I just didn't want to come across like I didn't care about the suffering of the baby.

what does justice have to do with suffering?

What is difference in suffering between a death by drowning and a death by natural causes?( both could be potentially painless or excruciating depending on the circumstances)

Would rather live a life that included suffering or not ever have the experience of existing?

If you never existed, then you would not know what existing is like because...well, you don't exist. Therefore your question makes no sense. And that baby up there would have been better off aborted. What kind of god allows these horrors to be born? A non-existent kind, that's what, or else one that doesn't care about humans and maybe doesn't even know we exist. You know, it's a big universe, what's one speck of dust, more or less?
