Well, a great way to make a first impression in your very first post is to mention how much you love to BBQ kittens and sacrifice goats. |

| In addition to these more cynical ideas it is just a likely that many times Christians are wanting to eliminate crude language from comments. For many it is a violation of their religious convictions. Unfortunately many comment sections on YouTube quickly go down that path and there are lots of Christians who would not send people to their video if the comments were peppered with F-bombs so they just choose to eliminate the option all together. |
There is at least one YT Christian for which the "foul language" excuse has been proven to just be a cover for censoring thoughtful disagreement. Watch this:

Like two months ago i had a godtube account in i was leaving alot of comments on alot of theist vids and i wasn't cussing or doing anything wrong the only thing that i did is disagree with them. And like a day later i was completely banned from the site.I had no warnings no email from the owner just banned. It seems like they just completely cut them selfs of from anyone one else who doesn't agree with them.I left a couple of comments of venomfangx channel on youtube and he blocked me and.I swear trying to talk to theist is like trying to talk to a brick wall even though i would rather talk to a brick wall then theist. |

I don't mess with godtube. It says in their terms that you can't say anything against Christianity.
Feel the love! |

An aversion it cuss words could explain some of this, but there are more than enough examples to strongly suggest that they really are averse to any serious questioning.
One reason for this is probably that in a world that challenges their beliefs so much more than when these beliefs arose (eg the success of science and technology) they seek these 'safe' outlets and forums as a refuge from 'reality', and therefore resent anyone bringing all that nasty science and scepticism into their refuge... |

Some of the Christian videos on youtube are just so damn hilarious. Especially some of the Benny Hinn clips. But what's scary is reading the comments that do make it to the boards. People say "praise Benny Hinn", "he truly is touched by god". He's touched alright, but I'm pretty sure it's not by any kind of god.
I wonder what they would do if one of us skeptics got up on stage with dear 'ol Mr. Hinn and didn't react at all when he makes one of his "WHOOSH" sounds and slaps us in the face. I'd love to get that up on youtube....
People are just so darn gullible when they feel like they have nobody left to turn to but a charismatic man with a TV show.
Well, enough rambling. Rock on peoples. |

Sometimes, what will happen, in my experience (on my
lj comm.
) is that a theist will come in, make lots of terrible arguments, get completely annihilated, then respond to the comments made in that post with a NEW post that disallows comments. Ugh. I delete those immediately, as per my rules, because then to reply, people have to make new posts.
(if you are unfamiliar with Livejournal, and only forums, replace the word "posts" with "threads") |
