Hey, everyone it's that time of year. So who's celebrating this blasphemous day. I would if I had some, haha. Man, 420 on a Sunday. I bet some Xians aren't too happy.

I would if I didn't fear the potential legal consequences or getting fired. In fairness to Xtians, there are some who believe that there's nothing wrong with using a perfectly natural herb in moderation (and there are many with a great big stick up their ass).

I don't use the herb for several reasons: kills lots of brain cells, addiction to other drugs, causes numerous psychological problems such as paranoia, and creates dependency.

I definately agree that with a few medical exceptions nobody should ever smoke weed for most of the reasons you described (I also believe that nobody should ever drink alcohol, eat red meat or cane sugar...but people like to enjoy themselves). I haven't smoked it for many, many years (and never used it with any regularity (2 - 3 times a year)), and unless laws change I will likely never smoke it again (out of fear of the consequences). I do, however, dispute the often made claim that it is the "gateway" drug. Statisitics may indicate that many hardcore drug users have used marijuana in their past. Statistics would also indicate that 100% of all hardcore drug users have inbibed alcohol in their past and continue to do so. Some people may babystep their way to cocaine, meth and opiates with alcohol and weed, but its not the result of any of marijuana chemical properties. I know, and have know, many people who use the weed on a semi-regular basis and none would ever even consider using any other illegal drug (I would not associate with anyone who would). Most of these people are gainfully employeed.
Don't get me wrong, you are in fact very wise to abstain and I encourage you to continue to do so. I know I'm just picking on on minor portion of what you said, this is just a pet peave of mine.
P.s. it's true what they say, alcohol is in fact far more harmful than marijuana. If you are going to abstain from just one...choose alcohol. It's also true about the paranoia marijuana may cause. Never experienced it personally but have seen it...subsides when the high is over.

I haven't heard that alcohol is worse, but I've also heard about that thing with red wine. Apparently if you drink a glass a day it's beneficial. I don't see anything wrong with beer, though. Personally, I like it for the taste. Never really liked alcohol for its intoxicating properties, though.

Sorry for making such a big deal about your original comment, it’s just a statement I rarely let go without a challenge. Ultimately, either of the two substances when used in proper moderation are more or less harmless. You are correct about red wine; a glass a day can be good for you due to the antioxidants contained within. However, these same antioxidants can be easily obtained from numerous common menu items (e.g. spinach, cranberries, broccoli, blueberries, cauliflower, the list goes on). Alcohol also causes an immense number of health problems (liver and heart disease, kills thousands of brain cells) and it affects one’s mood (anywhere from euphoria to violent rages). Of course, its best known for severely limiting one’s ability to make sound decisions. Plus, regular excessive consumption of alcohol can lead to addiction.

Umm.. weed can be used to successfully treat cancer, a study by the US gov in 1977 showed promise(but was later squashed), and more recent studies have shown similar results (completely removes or reduces the size of brain tumours in mice).
It is also the most effective pain medication, and just like someone can be addicted to chocolate, someone can be addicted to weed, but it is not a physical addiction.
Alcohol kills, but you'd be incapable of lighting and smoking enough weed to actually do yourself any permanent damage.
Weed is illegal because it is such a useful product, (which can't possibly sound right) but back in the day when the petroleum industry started producing plastics, they wantted to replace hemp products with plastic, so they made it illegal, and released propaganda movies that said 'if you smoke, you'll kill your family cause it turns you into a crazy loon'.
The US gov has also done their own trials on medical cannabis, and I watched a documentary of a US citizen that still receives weekly packages of 30/40 pre-rolled joints. He has a weird bone disorder that meant he was in loads of pain, except of course, he has his weed, so he's happy.
Make your own mind up, but please don't only read one side of the story. I'm sorry, this is just a 'short' reply so I haven't referenced what I'm claiming, but google is everyone's friend.

I'm glad someone appreciates weed for more than its legislative stigma.
The less talk about 420 the better. You're not helping any kids out here by spreading the word around.
And it's common sense that alcohol is worse for you than marijuana. Show me anyone ever who died directly from marijuana, and I'll show you government propoganda.
