cnet doesn't think highly of Vista, calling it "Warmed-over XP (SP2)"

Fuck cnet,
I've been running vista for a few months now. It's noticeably different and better than XP.

And for you Mac guys, I still don't get it... Using a Mac makes me want to kill myself, and I've known Mac techs who can't even stand the things.

Seems like it's more about people wanting to be different than anything else.

I'd think twice if I where you before commiting to vista. I'm a big XP fan but can't ever see myself going with vista. The amount of DRM which is built in and which activly degrades the performance of any non authorised media is a flat out reason not to bother with it at all.

check out this review of XP vs. Vista, Even with all the superfetch and readyboost tricks that vista has under its sleaves it still clocks slower than XP.

I've BEEN using vista for a couple months now, no issues at all. I also run XP Pro SP2.. no issues either. Vista is just more enjoyable, even if much of it is eye candy, it's easier and more fun to look at.

I had no performance issues at all with vista, and my computer is nothing special.

I'd hold off on getting Vista until more opinions roll in. A lot of the negative reviews of Vista seem to be coming from the "this is new and different and I don't like it" crowd, so it's hard to get an accurate assessment. XP is doing fine for me.
