I'm not trying to criticize Canada here. I hope the people in Canada, and elsewhere, get the best health care they can.
I believe that socialized medicine results in inefficiency and rationing and can never serve the people best.
Which isn't to say that the private system of health insurance we have now is great. Clearly changes need to be made to get costs of insurance down and the number of people with insurance up. People need to have realistic expectations however as there is no such thing as free. There is also no "right" to the labor and services of others even if some believe the government should be required to provide something.

I hear the French system works great. Unlike the one in Canada, and unlike how every conservative over HERE puts it, it is not socialized medicine. In fact, it is a very efficient and low cost system that still involves private health insurance providers. The doctors, however, are much better protected from the majority of malpractice suites. This helps to keep cost of insurance and care low and also doctors can take lower salaries than doctors in the US.
