It has to do with their blatant hypocrisy. Yes, something reeks of trolling and it wasn't my comment.

Back to the topic...The most intelligent response to this would have been to immediately point out to the lady that the book is indeed fiction - like half of the books in the library already are...I'm sure there was a Hardy Boys book that covered some cult...let's ban that whole volume also... Rolling Eyes

And the biggest work of fiction of all is the bible which contains far worse offensive matter than any other book yet they say nothing.

I thought the point was that the Bible is horrific in its examples of genocide and murder and mass rapes and infanticide, and it also mentions the occult. So, why is it okay for the Bible to be evil, but not okay for Harry Potter and gang to use magic to fight evil?

Don't worry, you got the point exactly. Its blatant hypocrisy.

You know pointing out that it's fiction doesn't even work on people like this...since the reason they're up in arms anyway is because they can't tell fact from fiction! There was a big stink about The Da Vinci Code too. But one of the most brutal films ever made, The Passion of the Christ, was inspired by god...which only supports SJC's contention.

Passion of The Christ was rated ALL AGES in my country.

The Da Vinci Code was rated 14 YEARS AND OVER in my country.

I point this out a lot because it's the best example for christian hypocrisy in entertainment.

That's amazing.

Both were rated reasonably fairly here. But you still had Christian moms and dads taking their kids to see it because it was such an 'important' film.

The Last Temptation of Christ is the best Jesus film ever made bar none...but that didn't stop the picketers (who never saw it) that I had to force my way through to see it.

This is an example where Christian ideology led to condemning the best and praising the worst.

Maybe that is because TLTC was about love and TPOTC was about death. To them sex is far more evil than violence.
