I don't know if this fits into this area of the board (though I'm sure the moderators will square me away PDQ if I'm wrong), I'd like to give a shameless plug to my new Live Journal,
The Spiritual Atheist
. I've come to a place of peace when it comes to religion and rationality and this journal is going to give some background and regular updates on that path.
I welcome all comments, though the more visceral ones will be deleted. If you come with love in your heart, the door will open and you will be welcomed with open arms. If you come with destruction in your heart, then the door will close until you can learn to approach with love and construction.
Cheers,

You probably don't know me, as you left shortly after I got here, but I remember you.
Welcome back!
As for your live journal, sorry no comments, I'm already prejudiced.
Spiritual atheist?

i dunno... there's nothing wrong with being spiritual.
I rather consider myself a 'spiritual atheist'... and so did Carl Sagan. |

It's possible that it's just the word that I don't like.
I mean, I beeing awestruck by beauty of lots of things all the time but I would never call myself 'spiritual'.
The only spirit whose existance I accept, is the old Finnish god of the forest Tapio:

yeah, its kind of a weighted word... i certainly wouldn't use it in front of people who would misconstrue it.

not necessarily... i think of it as a deep
emotional
connection... not a "soul" based one. "Spirit" also refers to emotion, excitement, life and breath... ever had "School Spirit" and cheered at a highschool football game? |

Wassup Baddogma!
*Throws a high 5*
I know what you mean about being uncomfortable with that word. For a while I really borderlined on strong atheism and detested words like spirituality, religion, god, etc. I'm still uncomfortable with many of them, but I am making my peace with them as I build new meaning and understanding of them.
If you're not sure what I mean by "Spiritual Atheism", check out my Live Journal.
The Spiritual Atheist
In a nutshell, rationalism is a function of the left side of the brain. Spirituality and symbolism is a function of the right side of the brain. Spiritual atheism is about embracing and developing both. Using science to know reality while using metaphor and symbology to understand ourselves and each other. It's a work in progress.
Cheers,

Hi CET.
It was a shame when you left the IG forums. You were one of the few quality posters IMO. |

How you divide this largely comes down to semantics. As far as left/right brained, I use sequential/symbolic... |

Wow, what a nice surprise when I clicked on this thread.
I'll check out your site when I can. I have it bookmarked. It should be interesting and I will leave a comment there if I feel I have anything to contribute. |

Just when we need him the most.
CET returns. Sort of like Jesus, except for the returning part. |
