How does Rook Hawkins KNOW he has a normal asshole?
He may have seen a picture, but that could be faked.
His girlfiend might tell him, but she could be lying.
It may FEEL normal, but you can't trust feeling.
The only way he can KNOW is to look! But how does he KNOW his senses are not deceiving him?

Rook Hawkins does not know that he has a normal asshole.
I do not know that other people have similar thought patterns to my own.
You do not know what your face really looks like.
But we say that we know these things because we can produce much evidence giving us reason to believe them, and no evidence causing us to disbelieve them.
Let us think about your face for a moment, even though I really don't want to.
The mirrors could be distorted. The pictures could be doctored.
But how likely is it that every mirror is distorted in the exact same way to make your mug look as it does? And how likely is it that all the pictures are doctored to make your face look similar to every other picture of your face?
And how likely is it that no one would have told you that the mirrors and the pictures were playing tricks?
And how likely is it that all the people who took your picture had motive to doctor the pictures?
All of the likelihoods above are close to, if not, nil.
Now, what about the converse?
How likely is it that the mirrors are correct, as are the pictures?
That is how you can say that you 'know' what your face looks like.
And that is how Rook Hawkins can be relatively confident that his is a normal sphincter. |
