The Infidel Guy Show FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Category: Main -> About InfidelGuy.com
| Answer | | · Who is your host? REGINALD V. FINLEY SR
Reginald Vaughn Finley, Sr. is an informal science and
critical thinking educator, activist, lecturer, and former internet radio show
host. He is more well known as the "Infidel
Guy" (I.G.). From October 1999 to March 2010, he produced a program known
as The Infidel Guy Show, a program in which he focused on educating individuals
about science, critical thinking, religious history, and exposing bad ideas.
The term "infidel" was chosen as he enjoyed being the irreverent
opposition to bad thinking. The Infidel Guy Show has featured personalities
from across a variety of philosophical spectrums including scientists Michio Kaku and Richard Dawkins,
lawyer Michael Newdow, creationist Kent Hovind, Ali Sina of Faith Freedom
International, philosopher and scientist Massimo Pigliucci,
and Michael Shermer, founder of the Skeptics Society.
I.G.'s family appeared on ABC's reality TV show Wife Swap on November 28, 2005,
when his irreverent ex-wife, Amber, was swapped to a devout Christian family
where the husband of the family was a pastor.
After the economic collapse, and after 11 years of dedicated
service to freethought, Finley was forced to retire
his show. He is now focusing on finishing his education, books, and
establishing a new career in formal education. He hopes to one day be back on
the air after receiving his Masters and publishing his works. This new program
will be streamlined, more professional, and designed to focus on science and
critical thinking. His eventual goal is to obtain his Doctorate in Science
Education and be a leader in the advancement of the Public Understanding of
Science.
He is currently unemployed and desperately seeking
employment. - RVF

| | · What is the Purpose of this site? The primary focus of this website is to tell the world that it's okay NOT to believe in god/s, and also, that there are good reasons why hundreds of millions around the world do NOT believe in god/s. Another purpose of this site is to provide a place where non-believers feel that they belong. In such an anti-atheist world, atheists often feel marginalized and attacked for their lack of belief. Here at infidelguy.com, non-believers can socialize, chat (voice and text), read thought provoking material, listen to and watch educational / entertaining programming found no where else on the web. IG.com also serves as a quick resource for debate preparation. Of course, people of all faiths are welcome. Here at ig.com we like to learn. Inviting people of various backgrounds here allow this. We only hope that they learn from us also, as well as we each learn from each other.

| | · Does The Infidel Guy Think Believers are stupid? No, I don't think believers are stupid. I understand their emotional reasons for believing in the inexplicable. [ Back to Top ]
| | · Is this an anti-god or even a hate site? No, we are not anti-god here. Most users here simply don't believe in a God. If you own a Christian website does that automatically make you anti-nonChristian? There are many Christians and other believers enjoying themselves and learning along with us each day.
I do not promote hate at all on my website. If one listens to the program, they will see that I am mostly promoting critical thought, understanding and tolerance.
All believers are welcome provided you treat us respectfully. Please treat us with the same decency and respect that you would like to treated with. If a user insults you, unprovoked, then that person will be asked to stop. If they continue, they will be kicked from the site. [ Back to Top ]

HOST
Reginald Vaughn Finley Sr, a.k.a The Infidel Guy and I.G., is the owner, operator and host of "The Infidel Guy Show". The first infidelguy website popped up in 1999 on a geocities.com page. Now, in it's 10th year of operation, The InfidelGuy show and site is becoming one of the longest running freethought communities on the web. The latest reincarnation of IG.com was in Jan 2008 when he brought back the "old look" of ig.com. The longest running version was split up to deal with server loads and a slew of new sites emerged, of those remaining, atheistforums.com is the most successful. With a new server, more time and dedication, The Infidel Guy is back! More about IG here.

Gene Shinai
(Shinai_Gene)
NEWS
Hi, My name is Gene Shinai and I live in the great (and thankfully relatively godless) Northwest. My slide out of Christianity started when a family member took me to see a faith healer at age 11, for Cerebral Palsy. The experience left me very angry for at least a year. But despite that I considered myself a christian until my late 20's when I discovered Buddhism. Today I can be found hanging out with some very nice Unitarian-Universalists for the community.
So what is a UU/ Buddhist doing Volunteering for The Infidel Guy posting atheist related news items? Well in my opinion the world is suffering from a toxic over abundance of religion. Atheism in my view, provides a welcome and needed dose of clarity and reason to the average person's life.
So with that in mind, I humbly offer my services. Let me know how I am doing, where I can make improvements or when I get it right."

Adam Hogan
CHATMASTER
Adam Hogan (godlessfather) is a speech-language pathologist/assistive
technology support specialist working with school-aged children in the
southern Texas area. He spent nine years as a strong Charismatic
Christian on his way to full-time ministry and believed that he was
called to be a "Prophet to the Nations". Working with children with
severe communication disorders often accompanied by very debilitating
conditions drove Adam to frequently pray for a loving god to heal his
students and greatly contributed to a life-changing "deconversion"
experience one morning during prayer in mid-December 2007. Finding The
Infidel Guy Show shortly thereafter, he's been looking for a way to help
and, along with Wrinkles, he founded the irc.freenode.net/#infidelguy
IRC channel in May 2009 after ustream's chat floundered. He currently
runs ig-bot on our channel and has equipped it with Bible and Qur'an
searching and quoting capabilities, among other things.
