Critical Thought: The Adam and Eve Story vs Modern Science
Blog

Adam and Eve versus Modern Science

Inspired by, Darwin vs Adam and Eve on Youtube

This series of arguments is relevant only to those that believe Adam and Eve were real people and the logical conclusions that they must face as the result of scientific discovery. More modern Christians have only recently begun taking a more liberal/ metaphoric approach to this story as the result of evidence to the contrary.  If true however, that it's only metaphor, then there's no need for a redeemer. We shall see similarly below if Fundamentalists were to adopt Evolution. Now we can see the problem clearly.

PRO BIBLICAL POSITION CON BIBLICAL POSITION
Many Christians believe that Adam & Eve are historical figures. * Modern science confirms that humanity didn't arise from two people. Population bottlenecking alone creates problems for this.

Because of “The Fall” of Adam & Eve, their descendants are born into sin.

There was no fall as there weren't two original people.

Because of sin, God sent Jesus to save us so that we may saved.

Since there were no two original people that fell, there was no original sin, therefore, no need for a redeemer.

To be saved is to go to Heaven to be with God/Jesus after death.

But since no redeemer (Jesus) was necessary. It doesn't logically follow that there is a Christian Heaven that you'll be going to.

Other Comparisons and Rebuttals:

“Well Jesus and Yahweh could still exist.”

As shown above, how and why? No fall, no need for Jesus. He'd have no role. No need to believe he exists. If one accepts that one of Yahweh's chief attributes was to create two sinless humans in a garden on Earth from which all humans derive. Then no, that version of Yahweh, cannot exist.

* The evidence for the evolution of all animals on this planet is overwhelming. I recommend one read my accompanying article here. However, let's look a few concrete evidences here:

The Infidel Guy Now has a New Time and more....
Blog
Hello friends,

The Infidel Guy Show is moving to a new time at 6PM ET. Why? We have just moved to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/infidelguy and they are picky about who they let host in their prime-time slots. We have to prove ourselves worthy by giving them a decent turn out. So spread the word about the new time and have a listen. Many of my UK listeners may be able to catch a LIVE show now! :)

Our new producer, Mike Jarsulic, is doing a phenomenal job. He has and is arranging some amazing guests. Please make sure you join us this Thursday @ 6PM ET as we interview paranormal investigator, John Lewis.  If you are skeptical about the paranormal, John might be able to convince you otherwise. Okay, maybe not.  :)  and.. Richard Carrier, is slotted April 30th! Nice.

We have a host of new options and tools for you to make your listening experience more entertaining and interactive. The Toll-Free 888-503-0802 number has been reactivated so that we can once again take calls. BlogTalkRadio.com users can call into the show via their computers as well. This is good for those that can't benefit from the Toll-Free number, such as my international listeners.

With this new system, we can now cue up to 10 callers at a time while you hold on the line and listen to the show in real time. I can feature guests and 'guest co-hosts' as well with relative ease. Shows will be immediately available for listening and downloading right after the show ends.

Our new player isn't much to look at but when LIVE, you just hit play and I'll be on the air. When off-air, the last show plays!

The IRC chat room via ustream will still be available until we can find a reliable irc server and a decent flash client interface for non irc users. If you have some suggestions, please let me know.
http://www.infidelguy.com/chatroom.html The old ustream.tv video feed is now just a webcam: http://www.infidelguy.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=11

I finally have a php coder too, John, that can fix a number glitches that my forum moderators were having. So, come on back to infidelguy.com if you haven't been in a while. I miss seeing you and beating you in the arcade. ;) http://www.infidelguy.com/forums-arcade.html

We plan on hosting more debates now as well with this new system. Send debate suggestions to: producer@infidelguy.com

Thank you for your time. See you Thursday @ 6PM ET and in the chatroom!! And oh, I'm still looking for a co-host. ;)

Evolution: The Reality of Evolution: What you should know, but don't.
Blog
I created this as a short primer for my friends at various social networking sites I have visited lately. For the record I am not a scientist nor expert so expect errors and corrections. It is my hope that this will at least get readers to start thinking more deeply about basic biology, evolution and human origins. Please, don't take my word for it. Do the research yourself.

Evolution: Evolution Arguments Headed for Islamic World
Blog

The next major battle over evolutionary theory is likely to occur not in the United States but in the Islamic world or in countries with large Muslim populations, because of rising levels of education and Internet access there, as well as the rising importance of biology, a scientist now says.

Like with Christians or Jews, there is no consensus or "official" opinion on evolution among Muslims. However, some of them say that the theory is a cultural threat that acts as a force in favor of atheism, says Hampshire College’s Salman Hameed in an essay in the Dec. 12 issue of the journal Science. This is the same beef that some Christians have with evolution.

However, a general respect for science in the Islamic world means scientists have an opportunity to counter anti-evolution efforts, including the "Atlas of Creation," a glossy 850-page color volume produced by Muslim creationist Adnan Oktar who goes by the name of Harun Yahya. Numerous university scientists and members of the media received copies of this book as an unsolicited gift in 2007.

Politics: The Man Behind Proposition 8
Blog

Among the local ballot measures to be decided on Election Day, California’s Proposition 8 is perhaps the most fiercely contested. Backers of the proposition to ban same-sex marriage in the state cast their campaign in apocalyptic terms. “This vote on whether we stop the gay-marriage juggernaut in California is Armageddon,” born-again Watergate felon and Prison Fellowship Ministries founder Chuck Colson told the New York Times. Tony Perkins, the president of the Christian right’s most powerful Beltway lobbying outfit, Family Research Council, echoed Colson’s language. “It’s more important than the presidential election,” Perkins said of Prop 8. “We will not survive [as a nation] if we lose the institution of marriage.”

The campaign for Prop 8 has reaped massive funding from conservative backers across the country. Much of it comes from prominent donors like the Utah-based Church of Latter Day Saints and the Catholic conservative group, Knights of Columbus. Prop 8 has also received a boost from Elsa Broekhuizen, the widow of Michigan-based Christian backer Edgard Prince and the mother of Erik Prince, founder of the controversial mercenary firm, Blackwater.
