LETTERS TO GOD

Angel Image

These are a compilation of letters sent to me asking questions that they would ask God if he were to actually respond to letters through the mail. Send me your best also. First created in May 1999. Restored for posterity.

Dear God,

If you really want everyone to be spared from eternal Hell, why don't you just appear in all your glory to every person in the world. If you did this, I believe you'd have a higher conversion rate than by having your fanatical followers going around door to door selling their faith like a box of girl scout cookies. -- J. LauR!

Dear God,

Why do the Christians worship the God of Israel? According to the Christian holy book the Bible, in Deuteronomy 4:9 God assigned the stars, sun, moon, all the hosts of heaven, figures carved in relief of any animal including humans for the worship of people other than the people of Israel, ONLY the people of Israel are to worship the GOD of Israel. Where then is the God of the Christian people of North America? Also why is no one being stoned anymore for gathering sticks on the Sabbath? It was written that the law is to stand for all time, Numbers 15,32; is this no longer a "sin"? --- Sheila Chambers

Dear God,

Your followers would have us believe that you hear and answer prayers, like quarterbacks who thank jesus for winning the Superbowl. I have always wondered why you would bless my grits or help millionaire athletes win sports contests when you let the Nazis send women and children directly to the gas chambers upon arrival at the death camps. Some were babies in their mothers arms and the Catholics, Gypsies and Jews must have been praying their asses off as they were being herded into the death chambers. Did you hear their prayers? --- Al Bessol

God,

If youre real and I'm your child, why would you take away my physical father and then sucker me into thinking I could find happiness once again with someone else? One who also helped relieve the pain of my horrendous loss and then why did you continue to put me through agony by threatening everything it had become and in turn put me through that horrible loss for a second time? God, if you exist and want me to do good to be able to live with you in a spiritual place, why do you make my life feel like death? ---- Lori

Dear Lord God,

Why didn't you do a better job of creating women's plumbing? Menstruation was a really crummy notion. Messy, inconvenient, and often painful and sometimes embarassing. What a lousy job of engineering. --- Lil Peck

Hey God,

If you punish all sinners, then you will have to punish your own followers, as all humans are sinners by nature (or so I was told at church every Sunday and Wednesday for 6 years). But if you're not going to punish your extremely hypocritical followers, at least make them shut up for a few minutes. I'm sick of people who have premarital sex, smoke weed, and come to school drunk telling me that I'm going to Hell simply because I don't like you. Bye-bye --- Jessica Smith

Dear God,

As a parent I must say that I am appalled at your concept of righteousness, fairness, and justice. Any father that sends his child or children to an eternal hellfire where their bodies burn over and over again should have his parental rights taken away. In Malachi 2:3 You threatened to rub feces in the faces of disobedient preists. Is that nice? You are a big bully. Create someone else to pick on. --- Emily Sanchez

Dear God,

As a biologist I can't help but notice that you may have made a few errors when creating man. Firstly, why do men have nipples, they serve no purpose. Why do humans have hair on their face? Almost everyone has to shave it off. It seems to serve no purpose. Thirdly, all humans have over 4,000 genetic diseases. What happened? And why did you make us over 98% genetically similar to Chimpanzees? If we are so special, we should be totally unlike the animals. Look over your blue prints again. --- Mary Buttons

Dear Lord God,

I was reading your word, as I always do, and I noticed in Genesis 6:6 (Old King James Version), that you repented that you made man and was sorry. I'm confused, aren't you all-knowing? How could you regret or feel sorry that you made man? You knew man would disappoint you before you made them didn't you? Maybe you're not all-knowing after all. Can't you see, if you never made man, we wouldn't have the problems we have just as you wouldn't have to feel guilty or sorry for destroying us. Simply don't make us. That's what you should have done in the beginning. But, we are here, that's the problem. --- Derrick Carbol

Dear Heavenly Entity,

I have my doubts about the faith of the current President of the United States, so could you do me a favor and change the next thing he drinks into arsenic, or conjure up a deadly Black Mamba snake in his lap. This would prove that he is a true believer, as is stated in Mark 16:17-18 (this passage states that Christians can ingest deadly poisons and handle poisonous snakes without harm). Thanking you in advance: --- J Lor1

Dear Host of hosts,

Where did Cain's wife come from? Thank you.

Praise God,

According to scripture, if you calculate who begat whom in the Bible, mankind has existed for a little over 6,000 years. Yet, we have discovered modern fossils of man that date back 100,000 years and post-modern fossils that date back 700,000 to 1,000,000 years ago. What's the truth? Also the Earth has been calculated to be 4.3 billion years old, yet many religious scholars think that the Earth is only a measly 6,000 years old. Why didn't you mention Dinosaurs in your most wise word? Where is the Firmament? --- Beth Moles

Dear God,

Why do the preachers continue to foretell and forewarn of the last days when Matthew 24:34 assures us that the generation during the time of the Apostles will not die until Christ has come for the Second time. Well, that generation is dead and gone and we are still here. So, that means that mans' future is in our hands. There is no second, well, third coming of Christ is there? Right back okay. Later. --- David Kulp

Dear God,

If it is your goal to make us spiritual beings and reside with you in heaven, why did you make us physical beings in the first place? --- Katrina Mapp

Dear Almighty God,

So, like, I have a problem with your cult that your believers spawned. I am sure it's not your fault, but common you know as well as anyone else that Christanity was not spread soley by your word but my the swords of others. The slave was whipped by a man with a cowskin in one hand and the "good book" in another. Indians were slaughterd and had their land taken away by robbers who claimed to be on your side and justified their actions by calling the indians savages. Of course I'll mention the Nazi's as well who surely believed that they were on your side. What gives? How come your followers feel that they can preach about righteousness but not follow it themselves. Please e-mail me back with your response. --- Julio A. Noboa

P.S. And when is your son gonna come back?

Dear Lord God,

No disrespect, but we all know that a day is based on the fact of how long the sun's rays strike particular parts of earth as it rotates, right? Then how can you account for the Bible mentioning three wondrous days of creation before the sun was even created? According to your word, you created the sun the fourth day. Please respond. --- Mike Corners

Dear God,

I was reading II Corinthians 5:7. It says (for we walk by faith, not by sight). I was just curious because you seem to omit the four other very important senses you gave us. Like hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Are you saying that believers use faith without sight but use it in conglomeration with the other senses? Without the senses faith would no longer be an object to attain. Deaf people can at least see. Blind people can at least hear. Deaf and blind mutes have touch and smell. What I'm saying is "Why have faith?" We can use our five senses to perceive the Universe. So, why haven't you utilized our five senses as a method of knowing you? Faith allows humans to believe in something without a legitimate reason to. --- Reginald Finley

Dear Lord,

What is faith really? Scripture says, "Faith, is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." For years I was taken in by this definition until I began to do further research. First of all God, there is no substance in thought. Hoping is a thought process. There isn't any substance until it becomes manifest physically. Substances (actual physical & chemical interactions) make things, not ideas. So that first half of your divine wisdom is in error. Secondly, there is no evidence unless you can utilize any or all of the five senses to perceive something, or extensions thereof. Once this is achieved you have your evidence. A parallel translation for Faith is ------ Something you want without even knowing if it's even attainable or realistic, the evidence without any evidence. --- Reginald Finley

Dear God,

Whenever someone dies I usually hear that it was your will. If it is your will that mankind dies. Then, we are born to be destroyed. What's the point? Why do we incarcerate murderers if it's your divine will? --- Chris Roberts

Dear God,

If you are not capable of evil, how could you create something that isn't part of your nature? Isaiah 45:6,7 specifically states that you created evil. The only way you can create evil is if you have some kind of evil in you. I thought you said that a good tree cannot bear evil fruit. Please reply. --- Devante' Moeler

Dear God,

I only ask for one thing. The answer to unification of Field Theory Relativity/Quantum Mechanics. GUT, Grand Unified Theory. My neighbors say they talk to you but have been of no help. --- Larry Johnson

Dear God,

I thought your most holy word said that no man would be punished for the iniquities of others, right? Then why is mankind being punished for the sins of Adam and Eve? Another thing also, if you didn't want man to partake of the fruit of knowledge and life then why did you place the trees in the Garden in the first place? I mean, didn't you know that they would be convinced by your fallen Angel to eat the fruit of knowledge? Write back. ------- Lisa Stark

Dear God,

I have often had many fellow Christians tell me that the many trials and tribulations we go through are a result of you testing us. But, if you are all-knowing there is nothing to test because what can we do that you didn't already know the outcome to? There is nothing to test. --- Donnell Liston

Dear Most high and Gracious Lord,

What is salvation? Salvation from what? I am assuming you are speaking of eternal hell-fire. However, a few things really disturb me. You are a merciful being right? Well, Hell is a merciless place that you yourself created. Sounds a little oxymoronic. If you are so merciful, wouldn't it be more merciful to simply not create me or zap me out of existence if my deeds offend you. I didn't ask to be here you know? As a matter of fact, hell shouldn't even be an option. --- Margaret Miller

Dear lord,

I am requesting immediately that you enforce a three-strike law. After a person commits a crime for the third time, (all crimes other than rape, torture, and murder) they should cease to exist. Any crime of rape, torture, and murder should be instantaneous non-existence. I am tired of these hypocritical Christians praying and repenting and then swear they are going to Heaven. Most criminals I know believe in you but they don't fear you. They see how you let the Christians off the hook every time they sin. These criminals don't take you seriously. Handle your business!!! --- Justin Crouch

Dear God,

Why do you give us a choice to believe or not to believe in you? Can't you simultaneously let everyone in the world know you exist? I'm not talking about isolated incidents of nature either; like volcanoes erupting, seas parting, talking burning bushes, and staffs turning into snakes. I'm talking about infallible knowledge of you, that no one can dispute because we all would experience it at the same time. Does this make sense? Make us know, not help us to know. --- Jennifer Bussey

Dear God,

Do we really have free will? I am told over and over again that you have infinite knowledge. If this is true I can't do anything to shock you or disappoint you. I am simply doing what you knew I would be doing before I was even created. Where's the free will? I am merely following a pre-planned, predestined fate (Romans 8:29). Glory be unto you. --- Holly Hyde

Dear Lord,

Why exactly did you punish Adam and Eve for eating from the tree of knowledge? They could not have known that it was bad thing to do, since, in the words of your inerrant Bible, they only learned about good and evil as a direct result of eating from the tree of knowledge. -- J Lor1
